Fire House Records has a catalogue of outstanding releases and this fits the bill perfectly by the sound of this initial track...there is power here and, yes, an irreverence for any kind of safety net...tremendously committed ensemble playing on display... John Cratchley
Navigation offers an exhilarating chase of a listen. Each track is something of a thicket that one has to navigate as well, but that is the thrill of it, particularly because the playing is so responsive to what the ensemble is inventing and discovering. This is freeing jazz, and as we say in ATL, I appreciate you. jly54
I broke my rule about not buying download-only music, because this is something I didn’t think I was going to be able to live without. Mr Braxton needs no introduction. Taylor is a brilliant player whom I’ve enjoyed in any context I’ve seen him in. Guitarist Mary Halvorson’s rapidly ascending career is the most amazing thing to happen to improvised music in the last 10 years.
13/10 on my 10 point rating scale. Richard Hayes
